Q. Pastor Ron... Thank you for your response to my e-mail and for the "Good News For The Day" (01/08/07),"Letter From The Pastor" messages. I suppose you could say that I am a "Gospel" (Seventh-Day) Adventist and have followed Dr. Ford's work for some time. I've considered expanding my knowledge of the Bible in general with a possible entry into the ministry or teaching. I've considered attending an Adventist institution but I've rejected traditional Seventh-Day Adventist teaching. What do you think about Trinity University in San Antonio,Texas or Denver New Testament Seminary in Denver,Colorado? Any suggestions? Did Dr. Ford obtain permission to teach at that Baptist Seminary you mentioned in a previous posting and is he scheduled for any speaking engagements? |
A. Dear Kelly,
I regret that I am unable to give you a n appraisal of the learning institutions that you mentioned. I will offer you this, for whatever it is worth: There are many fine teachers in SDA Universities but they are obliged to operate within a sectarian environement which stifles academic freedom.Give a lot of time to choosing an evangelican place to study where the gospel and not sectarian interests are paramount.
This brings me to the last part of your question:
No. Des Ford never made it to the Baptist Seminary because of their sectarian politics. They were unable to overcome their prejudices against Sabbatarianism.
It goes to show that the gospel has to struggle wherever it goes. It is up against the natural trend and bias of the human ego.
May God bless you,
Ron J. Allen. |

Q. How many moons does it take to get an answer from you? |
A. Dear Jerry,
I try to make no questioner wait longer than a week. I received this question from you and am answering within the weekly time frame, but I'm guessing there is another question of yours that I haven't seen. I have looked for it on this site and don't see it anywhere. If I you think I can still be of assistance I would be glad to reply to your question.
Wishing you God's best.

Q. Dear Pastor Ron...Just wanted to take a moment and commend you folks for the work that you do. Having been an active SDA for 10 years now...I had sensed something amiss in the church but just could'nt get my finger on it. I know what Dr. Ford meant when descibing a friend of his as " the saddest man on earth" I've met some of them...and was very close to becoming one myself. It's a shame really. The consequence of not taking Jesus at His word seems to have a serious detremental effect...sadly there are many that deeply believe that that is the correct way to be. I'll be in touch with GNU British Columbia shortly. This 1844 business is much bigger than I had previously imagined....again thanks..........John |
A. Dear John,
Thanks for your email. I am glad to hear from you. yes, it is a sad fact that many have become members of a church under the impression that God intended them to live severe and joyless lives. The great topic of Scripture is God. He is rvealed progressively to the world through the agency of his Son. Christ is them theme of Bible prophecy--not denominational movements. May the sovereign grace of God continue to fill you fill your life with faith hope and love. If there is anything we can do for you, let's know.
Yours in service,
Ron J. Allen. |

Q. Dear Ron,
First, thanks again for your encouraging spring seminar. Those of us well aware of our own inadequacy were greatly encouraged by the story of devious Jacob and his dysfunctional family. If God could use him then there is hope for the rest of us!
Could you do me a favor and ask Des what his current situation is regarding the SDA denomination. I was told by an SDA that the church had apologized to Des and had reinstated his ministerial credentials. I thought it seemed unusual that I would not have heard if the church had made such a gesture, but I want to be very sure that I have my facts straight before I discuss it further with the person, who is in a position of leadership. Thanks so much for taking care of this for me, and I look forward to hearing from you. We will certainly continue to remember your ministry in our prayers.
Sincerely, Marilyn T |
A. Dear Marylin,
Desmond Ford is not a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He resigned his membership soon after he retired because he was trying to get a part time position at a Baptist Seminary in Australia, and he resigned to smooth his way through Baptist political processes. I can tell you that there is no offer on the table from the denominations leaders, to reinstate Des. There have been some approaches made to the brethren by his friends (not at his request) but with no result.
God Bless, and thanks for your encouragement.

Q. Hi Pastor Ron:
I do so enjoy your site.We would enquire of DR Fords health. We love this dear man of God,and pray for Him to have many more years of service.
In the article by Dr Raymond Cottrell,on the exegesis of
Daniel.the quotes by Sr White are given, and reference notes
posted. How can I identify the source of these quotes? is it possable to go to Dr Cottrells Site? thank you for taking time, from your busy scedual, to help an old man who loves Jesus. Jim |
A. Dear Jim
If I know my friend Des (who happens to be in good health, and thanks for asking) he would refer us to Cottrells own work. You will need to acces this by going to the San Diego Adventist Forum. I do not have their number to give you just now, but perhaps you already know it.
The Forum has published some of Cottrells material.
May God Bless you,

Q. Dear Ron; I would like to hear from GNU Readers in the Pacific Northwest. I live in the Eugene, Or. area and don't know anyone who read the GNU magazine. There must be some around here who do...I just don't know who they are. It would be nice to have an E-Mail GNU Readers communication system, so we are not so alone. My name is Bonnie Troedel and please have GNU in the subject line so you don't get deleted as junk mail. Thanks Ron; Bonnie Troedel |
A. Dear Bonnie,
Thanks for asking. I'll post this now for you. Let's see what happens.
God Bless,
Ron J. Allen.

Q. Hi Ron,
Have been interested in your site and as a nonSDA I would be interested to know what are the doctrinal areas of EGW's theology you have difficulty with?
Thankyou for allowing me to post this question.
May God bless you

Hi Trevor,
Ellen white was a Chritian woman whos was a product of her era. She was influenced by the religious currents that were swirling about her in mid-nineteenth century America.
The Millerites read and interpreted the prophecies of Daniel in such a way as to come to the conviction that Jeus would return in October 22 1844. When this was proven wrong by Jesus' non-appearance, there were those who re-interpreted the doctrine to say that in 1844, Jesus our high priest, passed from a ministry antitypical of the first-apartment ministry of the Jewish high priest, to a ministry antitypical of the Yom Kippur Levitical ministry.
This interpretation was later endorsed by Ellen White in her writings. She and those she endorsed were in error. The consequences of her endorsement have been tragic for SDA's. It has resulted in a movement that has failed to deliver basic Christian assurance to many of its members, due to a shortfall of appreciation of the worth of Jesus achievement in Cross/resurrection. The 1844 diversion has taken the lustre away from the finality of Christ's mwork at the beginning of the Christian era.
May God bless you.
Ron J. Allen.

Q. Dear Pator.
Do you give books and do you intend to expand the church in other countries? |
A. Jan 14 2005
Dear Isaya,
Our ministry is important but small. We do not have the extra resources at this time, to expand internationally. We are also limited in what materials we can give away. Is there anything in particular that you need? Also note that you can download material from this website.
May God Bless you.

Q. do angels sing ???????? max |
A. Jan 14 2005
Hi Max!
Its hard for me to know the answer since I am not aware of having ever seen or heard and angel. If you are asking me what the Bible indicates I refer you to Revelation 5:11+12 which clearly says that Angels sing.
May God be with you.
Yours in Christ,
Ron J. Allen. |
